Ok. Another test.

I bought cheap advertisement space from something like +50 different blogs. Niches: Blogging recources, online marketing, making money online. Average price for ad slot was 2-8 ecs. Campaign should go on next 1-5 days.

I didn't really spent time studying how good investments individual blogs where, my strategy is to create 'shotgun spreaded' visibility for my own blog. Sinces Entrecard ecs are virtual currency, this time I didn't use real money, just my virtual capital on entrecard.com.

I will report results during following days. :)

Google TOS does not allow using AdSense with sites related to PTC. I think it is a shame, but what can you do.

I don't know what to do with this blog, because I need earning model and AdSense is one of best there is. Probably it means end for this blog and I have to start new one, where PTC is totally excluded.

Look profiles of people commenting and dugging this digg item. Most of them have just 1 or 2 dugged item and guess what, it is the item concerning taketheglobe.com and September 2008 DOS attack.

So... either profiles are TTGs sock puppets or they are somehow redirected for digging just this one specific digg item. Hard to tell, what it actually is, but it looks suspicious.

I have answer for your problem. There is now search engine on our blog for searching PTC and other earning site scams. It goes thru certain online money related forums for finding possible scam suspects. Idea of the engine is to help finding scams, because searching scams through regular google results is time consuming and hopeless.

Test it and give feedback. Suggest new sites, forums to be added.

Let's imagine that you got sudden visitor on your website. A visitor likes your website. So what happens next? Bookmarking your favourite website is really old fashioned way to go.

Probably visitor is looking for possibility to subscribe for feeds and do networking with you, specially if you're both blogging on same niche.

You need to offer this opportunity for networking. It should be available on your website without any extra scrolling or clicking subpages. Best place for offering networking is upper left or right corner on your blog.

I started to use entrecard.com (thanks to kidtechguru for the tip). With Entrecard service, I have already stumbled on interesting blogs, which unfortunately don't offer possibility for networking, I think it is a shame.

Do you think there is missing something important from my website? Please comment and I will check it out.

MyLot - ripoff, hot stuff or what?

I found 2 years old blog post regarding mylot.com. Opening post gives really harsh critic regarding mylot.com website.This thread had created loads of comments and latest one are from November 2008.

My quick summary about mylot.com, after reading nearly all comments:

MyLot actually pays for active users, for most appx. 2-15 $ per month, depending how long you have been there and how active you are, maybe even more for really Pro-users.

MyLot is also good for networking (driving traffic to your blog etc.), if you don't want to spend time commenting blog posts etc. Warning: don't start to bitch about payments, it is guarranteed method to get your account closed.

While compared to clicking ads (zzz.... :D ) on PTC sites, MyLot is probably good entertaintment and if you are doing online biz and you don't want to invest too much money, MyLot can be good choice.

My strong guess is that most diggers make decision by the headline, if it is catchy, you will digg it.

WaoIndia is PTC site paying high ratio (0.10$) per click. The trick is that they have really high payout, it is $ 199.00. So you have to prepare to spend some time with the site, for getting your first payout.

You can find loads of PTC blogs etc., which are recommending well paying PTC sites for you. You should understand that these recommend lists aren't necessarily up-to-date, what was hot PTC site six months ago, could be currently on it's way to be virtual ghost PTC.

How to recognize potential scam?

Here are some things for check-list:

- just few ads to click and most of them are just linking to other PTC affiliates
- pay per click for free member is more than 0.01
- design looks cheap or it is direct bulk "bux" copy
- is website running on free host or own domain?
- if TOS is suspicious or it doesn't even exist
- suspicious earning logic, do your math
- use http://www.whois.net/ for googling domain owner
- bought referrals are bots

AOL (users) busted for spamming DIGG

AOL has now been publicly called out for spamming on Digg. It was discussed in a Digg topic yesterday. Despite Calacanis' efforts, the anti-AOL commenter still got +28 diggs. Let's force this to the main page so Digg can take action. They do the exact thing on Digg that gets people banned from Netscape. (Contains list of 25+ spam accounts).

Quite messy discussion on digg.com, it seems that some AOL users had been using digg.com for spamming their own stuff (?).

Recently Netscape announced about offering 1000$ for people to provide content for their news-services.

Nearly same time there was article about digg.com cliques and how just 20 people control whole thing. First story is already creating cracks (or making it stronger) to digg.com community, maybe it was intentional purpose?

Is there war going on between netscape.com vs digg.com or is this war between coalition of independent (and commercial) news-services "less popular than digg.com" vs digg.com? :D

Digg.com is on Alexa.com top100, which is good achievement for fairly new web-service. Other similar services aren't so popular and this way they are not so "important". Netscape.com is trying to jump to the band-wagon, but their $$$ tactique has already caused negative impressions on blogosphere. Netscape.com seems to have problems getting people to "digg" their stories and submitting new ones.

Maybe this whole thing is just incident, there isn't any "war" going on, just small battle of nerds (sorry :) ) souls, who voluntarily bring "free" content for community driven news-services. While explaining their $$$ idea, Netscape recruit Jason Calacanis says that crowdsourcing is outmoded idea.

Netscape is trying to bridge the gap between journalism and blogging by paying a small amount for incoming content and using "Netscape Anchors" to moderate the submissions.

Calacanis has said that the eight anchors, or "metajournalists" as he terms them, have backgrounds as bloggers and as traditional journalists. The anchors are responsible for highlighting the more interesting reader-submitted stories and providing richer, more in-depth analysis.

This I found quite interesting idea. It would make netscape.com like crossover between community driven news-service and traditional news agency. Future shows how well this idea works in practice.

After hearing Sen. Ted Stevens' now infamous description of the internet as a "series of tubes," Andrew Raff sang the senator's words over a folksy ditty and anonymously posted it to MySpace.com, where about 2,500 people listened to the tune, thanks to a link from one of the net's top blogs.

On Tuesday, MySpace canceled the TedStevensFanClub account, telling Raff that the social-networking site, now owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., had received a "credible complaint of your violation of the MySpace Terms of Services."

(Editor's note: MySpace reinstated Raff's account Thursday afternoon following publication of this story. The company says Raff's account was deleted in error.)

The cancellation e-mail referenced a number of prohibited activities, including trademark and copyright violations. MySpace also reserves the right to remove any profile for any reason.

But Raff, a recent graduate from law school, didn't violate any copyright laws in using the Alaskan senator's words, since government works cannot be protected by copyright. And Raff composed the music himself.

I am starting to believe that Google does more than simply not follow “nofollow” links. I think that they may look at the percentage of nofollow links a site recieves and if it is greater than X %, the site is considered spammy.

If that is the case, one has to wonder if a “nofollow” link actually works as a vote against a site. After all, if you are saying with the nofollow tag “I don’t trust this link”, the search engines may decide they don’t want to trust that site, either.

Hmm... interesting theory, because I just read story about how to write succesfull "digg" stories. Not gaming with digg.com, but writing stories which gets loads of diggs. I guess it's all question about writing catchy headlines, I'm not really good with it, so... hell YEAH! Soon this weblog will be buzzing of new visitors, aliens reading about youtube and fashinating stories about guerilla marketing. People will go bezerk and I simply say... "pwned".
